We have a secret weapon here at Modibodi... It’s our Customer Experience Team, and it’s filled with a talented bunch of people who dedicate their day to helping answer all your burning questions about period undies.

Now, they're here to lend a hand on your journey with reusable period undies. Read their guide below and have your most asked questions answered once and for all.

  1. Can I wear period undies all day?
How long you can wear your undies really depends on your flow and the level of absorbency. If you’re wearing a pair of Maxi absorbency and you know you're having a heavy period day, then you may need to change once or twice a day. It’s always best to keep a spare pair with you, just in case.
  2. How do I wash them?
Easy-peasy! Just take them off and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear, we recommend doing this when you jump into the shower. Then, throw them into a wash bag and put on a cold gentle cycle with some detergent. The secret is a low spin. Once they’re all clean, hang them inside out so gravity does the drying work for you. Ta-da.
  3. How do I know when to change into a fresh pair?
Once they start to feel slightly wet or heavy, then it's time to change into a fresh pair.
  4. How do I get the blood out of them?
If your undies have been worn for a while and the blood is dry and stiff, then rinse under cold water, pop a little detergent on the gusset and give them some elbow grease. Then rinse and repeat again. This not only ‘resets’ your undies, but it also gives them a good deep clean. If they still feel a little wet when you take them off, simply rinse under cold water and they are ready for the washing machine.
  5. How do I know what absorbency to buy?
Okay, there’s some maths coming so bear with us... If you’re wearing a super light pad but changing it twice a day, you could go for a pair of Light-Moderate Modibodi and will need only need to change once a day. If you're wearing a regular pad and changing 3-4 times a day, then you could choose our Maxi range, which you might need to change a few times a day. Our best advice is to get an absorbency higher than you normally would, so you know you’ll be protected. From there, you can mix and match absorbencies and styles to suit your cycle.
  6. Do they smell?
The absorbent lining in our undies is made from Australian Merino Wool, which is naturally odour-controlling. Win! The truth is, any clothes that are left with any type of stain will eventually start to smell, whether that’s blood, urine, food or even water. If you clean and dry your Modibodi undies properly, they will not smell at all.
  7. Can I sleep in period undies?
Of course! Have you seen our sleep shorts? They’re life-changing.
  8. Are they unhygienic?
This is a common misconception and it’s always the first question we get. The short answer? No! Our patented technology keeps you feeling dry and fresh, no need to worry about that wet feeling. When it comes to reusing your underwear, just like any other clothing that needs a wash, if you clean them properly, then they’re completely hygienic.
  9. Where can I buy them?
You’ve got options, friends. You can find our range at Modibodi.com, Big W, David Jones, Coles, or Amazon.
